RC student earns spot in program at P&G

Megan Von Rotz, a junior at Rockford College majoring in biology, has been chosen to attend a special program at Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnati that will allow her to work beside P&G scientists developing new products.

Von Rotz, from Freeport, will attend the program at P&G headquarters from Aug. 4-8. She is one of only 14 college students chosen from among 1,000 applications submitted for the program.

The program, called “Research Your Future in Science” includes an orientation to the company as well as an opportunity to participate in experiments and research in a number of P&G divisions. The company pays for all expenses, including air travel.

One benefit of this experience, says Von Rotz, is that many participants in the program end up getting internships at the company and are eventually hired as scientists.  She says she had researched the company earlier, and that it appeared to be a good fit.  

A non-traditional student, the 25-year-old Von Rotz is married and the mother of two children.
