EdTPA Faculty Coordinator

Type of Position:    Half-time

Education Requirement:  Master’s degree, PhD or EdD preferred


Half-time position in the Education Department; Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher preparation program; serve as edTPA resource to students, faculty, staff, PK-12 educators and administrators; Assistant professor rank; Day and evening courses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Teach half-time load of classes in teacher preparation program, day and evening classes on campus and possibly future off-campus sites

 -Facilitate work to connect edTPA to Rockford University teacher education standards and the Common Core Standards

-Support faculty use of edTPA data and evidence to inform program improvement

- Assist in redesign of Elementary Education program as well as any future program redesigns required by the state of Illinois, including implementation of edTPA skills into coursework

-Provide professional development in edTPA training and scoring for TEP members, adjuncts, and student teaching supervisors as needed

-Communicate and collaborate with 2-year partner programs (RVC, HCC) regarding course alignment and edTPA backmapping

- Work as part of the Education Unit with the guidance of the Unit Head to coordinate and manage curriculum, courses, texts, and standard assessments

- Coordinate instruction and clinical experiences in accordance with the teacher preparation program standards

-Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities in working with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds including academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and disabilities

Education and Experience:

-Master’s degree in Education with five years of experience

- PhD or EdD preferred

-Classroom teacher

-Reading teacher

-Reading leadership such as a reading coach or principal

-Five years of experience in the above categories

-Active involvement in professional organizations

-College-level teaching experience preferred

-Experience with EdTPA implementation required


-Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills

-Demonstration of teaching effectiveness

-Evidence of scholarly abilities

-Understanding of diverse populations

- Evidence of continued professional development

Physical Demands:

- Ability to travel to off-campus sites for supervision and community outreach

Work Environment:

- Professional environment

- Must be able to attend meetings and events outside normal working hours
