Rockford, Ill., – The Notre Dame Club of Rockford and the MBA Program at Rockford University welcome the 2013 Hesburgh Lecture:"Living the Dream in Rockford” featuring Chris Stevens, Co-Founder of Keurig "K-Cup” Premium Coffee Systems on Thursday, October 24, 2013, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with light refreshments and pre-presentation, 7 p.m. presentation by Chris Stevens. The event takes place at Rockford University’s Fisher Chapel, 5050 East State Street, Rockford.
Serial Entrepreneur, former Notre Dame and pro basketball player, and faculty member at Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame Chris Stevens, is one of the original four team members to develop and launch the Keurig Premium Coffee System, the coffee phenomenon which is now the number one coffee brewer in America. Until his retirement earlier this year, Stevens was responsible for all aspects of Keurig’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives as part of the corporation’s commitment to donate at least five percent of its pre-tax profits to environmental and social causes.
In addition to his role as one of the moving forces behind Keurig, Stevens has served as a motivational speaker, angel investor, philanthropist, actor, broadcaster and even movie producer. He was also a member of the Notre Dame basketball team which in 1974 famously ended the UCLA men’s historic 88-game winning streak.
Stevens’ presentation will focus on energizing the community, with support and resources from businesses and the university, to foster business growth and viability in the region. He will discuss the important issues, motivations, and challenges associated with starting and investing in a new venture. His presentation will also touch upon the highlights of his collegiate- and professional sports career.
