Rockford College Art Gallery will host Michiko Itatani’s Cosmic Wanderlust, a series of oil paintings, from September 14 through October 16, 2012. The artist will host a lecture from 5-6 p.m. and an opening reception from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012.
Itatani presents this about her recent body of work:

"In my youth, I wanted to pursue writing fiction. I strongly believe in fiction's ability to express the deepest truths and concerns.

In my most recent body of work, "Cosmic Wanderlust", I am presenting my personal parallels in two series of work. One is HyperBaroque and the other is Moon Light / Mooring. These are my two parallel fictions based on the human desire to reach out into the mental and physical space beyond our grasp. One is looking out and the other is looking in. Through this process, I am trying to come to terms with the complex reality of the 21st Century. And my vision stays pathetically optimistic.”

Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Friday 3–6 p.m. and by appointment.
The Exhibition is free and open to the public. Clark Arts Center is wheelchair accessible. For more information, contact the Rockford College Box Office at 815-226-4100.
