Rockford, Ill. - The women’s tennis team begins its 2012 season on Saturday September 1st when they travel to Sheboygan and Fond du Lac, Wis. The Regents will take on Northern Athletics Conference opponents Lakeland College at 10 a.m. and Marian University at 2 p.m.

This season the team brings back handful of players from last year’s team along with a few new fresh faces.  However, the Regents will still be very young with a roster made up of primarily of sophomores and no seniors.  Sophomores Jessica Segalla (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) and Carla Ramirez (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) look to build on last year’s performance.   Segalla picked up a win for Rockford in the #3 singles sport last season against Alverno College.  Ramirez played in numerous highly competitive matches and hopes to turn the corner during her sophomore season.

The 2012 campaign consists of 11 Northern Athletics Conference matches beginning on September 1st and ending on September 29th.  The ladies open up their season with 5 straight road matches before their home opener on September 11th.   They will then play 5 consecutive home matches before closing out the season on the road against Dominican University.  All of the Regents home matches are played on the campus of Rockford College at the Barnes Tennis Courts.
