The suggestions below are intended to help with research tasks that are commonly done by students using the article indexes available through Colman Library.

Book Reviews
Book reviews are readily found for books recently published books. Reviews of less well-known books, or older ones, may be harder to locate.

Academic Search Premier
Enter: title of book
Limiter: Document type – Book Review

Periodical Abstracts
Enter: title of book & change ‘keyword’ to ‘title’
Limit to: Article type – Book Review

Literary criticism
MLA Bibliography is the best article index to use for this type info. Also try ASP, Periodical Abstracts (set Article Type to ‘Commentary’), and Humanities Index.

MLA Bibliography
By author: enter author’s name – change to ‘Subject’ search

By title: enter title of work – change to ‘Subject’ search

Play reviews
Play reviews, including production reviews, are readily available via searches in ASP, Periodical Abstracts, and Humanities Index.

Humanities Index:
Enter in this format: name of play theatrical production

Periodical Abstracts
Enter: name of play – change ‘keyword’ to title
Limit to: Article Type: choose ‘Performance review’

Academic Search Premier
Enter: name of play
Document type: choose ‘Entertainment review’

Company information
This search provides very extensive “Datamonitor” reports (pdf format) for thousands of companies.

Business Source Elite
Choose ‘Company profiles’ from the green bar at the top of the search screen.
