Policy On Parental Notification
Alcohol and Drug Violations

This policy applies to all students. The parental notification
aspect applies only to students who are under 21 years old. Additionally,
Rockford College maintains a written record on contacts we make
with parents/guardians of students who have been found to be in
violation of the College's policies on alcohol and /or drugs. Such
records are available to students when they request access to them
(see Policy on the Notification Policy of Rights under FERPA).
Rockford College prohibits the unlawful manufacture, distribution,
possession, dispensations' and/or use of alcohol, illicit drugs,
controlled substances, and/or illegal drugs on property it owns
or controls (See Policy and Information about Alcohol and Drugs).
In the residence halls, for those individuals of age to consume
alcohol legally, alcohol may be consumed in accordance with Rockford
College's Policy on Alcohol and Drugs in all residence halls except
McGaw. Alcohol is prohibited in Emerson and in McGaw on floors 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
The following outlines general procedures when students are alleged
to be in violation of the College's policies on alcohol and/or drugs.
Please note, Rockford College reserves the right to contact parents
in all cases where alcohol or drug use results in injury and/or
hospitalization.
First Allegation/Offense: Meet with Coordinator of Residence Life
Hearing/Administrative Resolution
Possible Outcomes: Sanctions if appropriate (i.e., fines)
Review actions for further violations
Second Allegation/Offense: Meet with Director of Student Development
Hearing/Administrative Resolution
Possible Outcomes: Residence Hall Probation
Additional Sanctions if appropriate (i.e., fines)
Notification of parents in all cases
Third Allegation/Offense: Meet with Director of Student Development
Hearing/Administrative Resolution
Possible Outcomes: Dismissal from the Residence Halls
(Effective at the end of the term)
Additional Sanctions if appropriate (i.e., fines)
Notification of Parent(s) of the outcome
Fourth Allegation/Offense: Meet with Director of Student Development
Hearing/Administrative Resolution
Possible Outcomes: Immediate Dismissal from the Residence Halls
Additional Sanctions if appropriate (i.e., fines)
Notification of Parent(s) of the outcome
