Songs & Sonnets: A Renaissance Christmas

The Performing Arts Department at Rockford University presents an evening of seasonal Shakespeare and holiday favorites to ring in the Christmas season. A jazz setting of six Shakespeare texts by George Shearing, "Songs & Sonnets" for chorus, piano, and string bass, sets the stage for this beautiful and upbeat program, featuring Regent Singers, Women's Ensemble, Gospel Choir, and Vocal Collective. Selections include "Blow, Blow, thou Winter Wind," "How Like a Winter," "It Was a Lover and his Lass," from the Shakespeare canon, and some of your favorite carols, as well: Deck the Halls, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, and Carol of the Bells.
