On behalf of Rockford University, welcome to our community of learning. For more than 166 years, our institution has provided an outstanding higher education grounded in the liberal arts. Our tradition is deeply-rooted in excellence and a dedication to service to others whether in our community or around the world.
Our graduates, many of whom you’ll find featured throughout our website, have gone on to establish successful careers as doctors, lawyers, scientists, educators, and business executives, among others. They all benefited from our legacy of tolerance and civility, intellectual rigor, commitment to social justice, generosity of spirit, openness to new ideas and to the lessons of the wider world.
Our liberal arts education challenges students to develop habits of the mind and of the heart that lead to lifelong learning and leadership in an increasingly complex world. With more than 80 majors, minors and concentrations, the Rockford University curriculum provides several alternative paths for our students, so they are truly able to design a learning journey that has meaning for them.
On July 1, 2013, our institution’s name changed from Rockford College to Rockford University. This important transition accurately reflects our long established and increasingly diverse offerings, while also clearly defining our status within the Rockford and world communities.
My personal view is that Rockford University serves as a bridge between dreams imagined and dreams achieved. With an excellent academic reputation, an outstanding faculty and staff dedicated to our students’ success and opportunities to grow intellectually and socially, Rockford University is rock solid.
