We believe deeply, as we have since 1847, that the best education any of us can experience must be grounded in the firm links between scholarship and engagement in the world. In fact, we would argue that education that separates scholarship from engagement and theory from practice is not worth pursuing. That radical claim is at the heart of our mission and vision as a college.

We also firmly believe that access to education for a lifetime is something each of us should expect and pursue. The Community Education programs at Rockford College are committed to providing education to members of the community from every walk of life. Whether you are a 2-year-old in our Music Academy or a 90-year-old coming back to audit a philosophy course, we welcome you as a fellow traveler in the lifelong journey of learning.

Our Community Education programs encompass the following areas:

BSMS students

 The Return-to-College program
This program is for adults desiring to finish their undergraduate degree. It is comprised of the adult accelerated degree completion program: the Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (BSMS). Adults can work full-time and earn a college degree in just 18 - 24 months.



RCLC students



The Rockford College Learning Center

RCLC offers both enrichment and remedial programs for children and adults. Since 1952, the RCLC has enhanced life-learning skills for more than 30,000 people. The Rockford College Learning Center has helped many reach their learning potential by maximizing abilities, encouraging success and challenging them to reach for higher goals.


NICNE seminar



Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence

NICNE aims to help local nonprofits reach the highest levels of service and management excellence by providing information, education, consultation and resource supports. The Center serves over 750 nonprofit board and staff members with a variety of programs and services.






English Language Institute 

Rockford College’s full-time Intensive English Certificate Program offers courses ranging from two months to 16 months, depending on language goals. Whether your student aspires to study the English language prior to transferring to an American college or wants to improve career opportunities in his or her home country, our program can help reach those educational goals.
