Academics at Rockford College

Home > Academics

Rockford College has over 65 full-time faculty members and more than 68% percent have the highest degree in their fields. Our professors, who hold Ph.D.’s from such institutions as Yale, Vanderbilt and the University of Chicago, certainly qualify as experts in their field.

With a student faculty ratio of 11-to-1, in-class activism is both expected and appreciated.

Rockford College is one of only 11 institutions in Illinois with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, the oldest and most prestigious academic honors society.

The Rockford College faculty and curriculum are organized into three divisions:

  • The Division of Arts and Humanities includes the departments of Art, Classics, English, Modern Languages, Performing Arts, Philosophy and Religious Studies.
  • The Division of Science, Mathematics, and Nursing includes the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Nursing, Physics, and Psychology.
  • The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Education includes the departments of Anthropology and Sociology, Economics/Business and Accounting, Child Development and Education, History, Physical Education, and Political Science.
