Hands Across the Sea/Trouble in Tahiti February 24–27, 2011 Two one-act plays
Clark Arts Center, Cheek Theatre
Hands Across the Sea
By: Noël Coward Direction by: Noel Rennerfeldt
A short
comic play involving two bemused visitors from the colonies who take up
a casually-made invitation from an upper-class British couple to drop
in on them at their Mayfair flat. Their identity is mistaken among the
arrivals, departures, telephone calls and free-flowing alcohol, and
confusion abounds.
Trouble in Tahiti
Composed by: Leonard Bernstein
Direction by: Timm Adams
A
one-act opera in seven scenes, set in an affluent, nameless American
suburb, the story depicts the disenchantment of Dinah with her husband
Sam, who is more interested in his career and hobbies than in his
family.
