Melissa’s medium of choice is paper made from fibers she processes (and sometimes harvests) herself. She chooses handmade paper specifically for its minimal environmental impact, utter versatility, enormous variety and perceived fragility, yet deceptive strength. Melissa’s work explores the variety of ways we gather knowledge in our lives, whether it be from text, images, sounds or any combination of the senses.
