Wil
Christiansen was named head volleyball coach in
the summer of 2007. Christiansen takes over a Regent
squad that finished the 2006 season with a 6-22 overall
record and 5-6 in the Northern Athletics Conference, narrowly
missing the NAC tournament.
Prior
to Rockford College, Christiansen was an assistant at Kishwaukee
Community College. At Kishwaukee, Christiansen was
a major contributor to the Kougar volleyball team.
In his three years in Malta, IL, Christiansen was part of
a Kishwaukee program that finished in the top 10 in NJCAA
National Tournament three times, including a third place
finish in 2004 and a National Championship in 2006.
The Kougars have also won an astounding 100 consecutive
conference matches since the 1997 season.
"We are very
excited to have Wil lead our program," said Rockford
College Athletic Director Hank Espensen. "He
brings a strong pedigree of coaching, both in the collegiate
and club ranks."
Christiansen is
also an IMPACT certified coach who is also a coach in the
Quest Volleyball Club (a member of the Club Fusion Volleyball
program). "It's an honor to have my first collegiate
head coaching job at Rockford College," said Christiansen.
"Hopefully with my experience and the support of the
Rockford community, we can continue to establish the program
as a perrenial force in the NAC and the national scene."
A Crystal Lake,
IL native, Coach Christiansen graduated from Monmouth College
with degrees in mathematics and business administration.
He played four years of volleyball before spending two years
as an assistant coach for the Fighting Scots women's volleyball
team.

Paula
Jones joined Coach Christiansen's staff during the
summer of 2007.
Jones,
a physical education teacher at RISA Middle School
, graduated from Rockford College in 2006 as one of
the most decorated athletes in recent memory. Jones
was an all-conference performer in volleyball, basketball
and softball. Her teams won five conference championships
and made four NCAA tournament appearances. Jones was
rewarded in 2006 for her years of athletic leadership
with the Rockford College Woman Athlete of the Year
and Iron Woman Awards.
Jones
graduated United Township High School in 2002, where
she also played volleyball, basketball, and softball.
She currently lives in Rockford, IL and is working
on her master's degree.
