Rebsom was named as the Regents' head coach for the 2005-06 season.
Rebsom - a native of Mile City, Montana who brought a diverse
basketball background to the RC program - was an assistant coach
on Bill Lavery’s staff in 2004-05, before
succeeding him on the RC sidelines.
In 2005-06, RC went 15-12 overall, good for a third place
finish in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference. The Regents
made it to the semi-finals but fell short to conference
champions Aurora.
He came to the Regents after a four-year stint as the head boy’s
basketball coach at Glasgow (Mont.) High School (2000-04) and two
seasons (1998-2000) as the boy’s head coach at Powder River County
(Mont.) High School. During his tenures at both Glasgow and Powder
River, Rebsom was also the girl’s head
coach for two seasons at each school.
”I am very excited to be competing in the new Northern Athletics
Conference and am eager to see how we match up with a new
field of competition" said Rebsom.
“I realize what a great opportunity it is to be a part of
such a quality conference. We’ve been given a tremendous
opportunity by this new formulation and look forward to
establishing new rivals and becoming a recognizable name
in a new league."
" We want to have a team that is exciting and fun to
watch on the floor, and displays
a lot of class and is a good representation of Rockford
College off the floor, as well.”
Rebsom is a 1998 graduate of Western Montana College. He
earned his bachelor’s of science degree in English with a minor in
library. He spent four seasons (1993-97) as a member of the WMC
men’s basketball team, where he was a two-time all-conference
selection. He also earned all-region accolades as a junior.
