Alumni Survey
Dear Rockford College Alumna/us:
It has been several years since we have formally measured the quality of your overall experience with
Rockford College. The Alumni Survey is designed primarily to help us learn about you and
other alumnae/i as we prepare for our upcoming reaccreditation. We hope to learn about our
strengths and weaknesses so we can continuously improve the academic and co-curricular
programming for future generations of Rockford College students.
What is accreditation?
In part, accreditation is a means for colleges and universities to recognize and accept one
another’s credits and credentials. Accreditation represents external affirmation that an institution
provides quality education consistent with its mission.
Why does Rockford College need to be reaccredited?
Institutions of higher education in the United States are reviewed on a regular basis, at least once
every ten years. The Higher Learning Commission currently accredits Rockford College. This is
Rockford College’s time for review.
How can alumni help?
For well more than a year, faculty, staff, and trustees have been working on the College’s
reaccreditation process, most notably preparing the comprehensive self-study report that will be
submitted to the Higher Learning Commission in late fall 2009. Alumnae/i input is an important
part of the self study and provides one piece of evidence that Rockford College offers a quality
educational experience. You can help by thoughtfully and candidly answering the survey questions.
Your participation in this research is strictly voluntary. Please rest assured that your answers are
completely anonymous.
