NURSING |
*
Special Nursing Open House |
3:00 -4:00 |
Starr 332 |
* The Nursing
Department will held an open house for Alumni and friends
to see their new Simulation Manikin.
Thanks to a
$33,000 Nursing Improvement Grant from the Illinois Board
of Higher Education and the cooperation of Gene McLain
`73 the college secured a high-tech Simulation Manikin
to be used in our Nursing program. The manikin can be
programmed to exhibit any number of medical conditions.
When a correct nursing diagnosis is made and appropriate
nursing interventions are initiated, the manikin's heath
improves; the manikin's condition worsens if actions are
inaccurate. While visiting his son, Marty, a Sophomore,
Mr. McLain heard of our need. As director of corporate
accounts at Laerdal, the company that makes the simulation
manikin, Mr. McLlain was able to connect Nursing Department
Chair, Dr. Julie Luetschwager to the appropriate people
to assist in the development of the new simulation lab
and in securing the grant.
