Lunch Bunch
Back in the early 80s two alumni, Betty Clare Fluty Paulkitis `42 and her husband Peter Paulkitis `89H were mainstay volunteers in the Alumni office. Filing, envelope stuffing, afternoon Phonathon calling - you name it, they were game to help. Along with those two was a group of others always nearby to lend a hand.
In the mid 80s they all decided that on the first Thursday of each month it would be fun to meet for lunch. The group came to be known as the "Lunch Bunch." That once mighty group grew to number more than 30, mostly alumnae from the old campus. The Lunch Bunch still meets every first Thursday at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford. People start gathering around 11:00 a.m. and food is ordered at 11:15 a.m. All alumni of Rockford College and their spouses or guests are welcome to join in. Meals are usually done by 12:15 p.m. and people start filtering out at their own pace. There are separate checks, so no need to worry about the math. In this hectic world we often don't take the time to connect with ourselves, let alone others. This lunchtime group provides for each participant a unique opportunity to commune in a cross-generational atmosphere with fellow Alumni (Alumni from five decades are regularly represented) while you engage in lively conversation on a wide range of topics and catch up with each others lives.
