of Study I BSN-C Program
Thank
you for your interest in our BSN Completion (BSN-C) track
within the BSN Program at Rockford College. It is our belief
that to be the most effective nurse possible in today's
health care environment requires a nurse that has breadth
and depth of knowledge to meet the ever-increasing complexity
of client care in structured and unstructured settings.
The
BSN-C provides a baccalaureate degree in nursing for registered
nurses with a regionally accredited diploma or an associate
degree in nursing. The BSN-C requires completion or validation
of 124 credit hours. Of these, up to 59 credit hours are
awarded for the prior diploma or associate degree in nursing
and 65 credit hours are required for completion or validation
within the BSN-C (see
pp. 24-25 of the Nursing Student Handbook).
Students
in the BSN-C progress through their nursing portion of the
curriculum in a cohort. Students begin courses during the
summer semester and complete their nursing course work by
the spring semester. Students determine their general education
requirement needs on an individual basis with their academic
advisor. Students in the BSN-C have the opportunity to take
general education courses on an accelerated basis with students
in the BSMS program. General education courses are offered
in 5-week blocks. Students are highly encouraged to discuss
this option with their academic advisor to accelerate the
completion of their general education degree requirements.
