Rockford College: Founded in 1847, Rockford College exists to make a difference in the world through linking learning and citizenship. In the spirit of our most famous alumna, Jane Addams – founder of Chicago’s Hull-House and 1931 Nobel Peace Prize winner – Rockford College is a community that is actively curious, creative, compassionate, and connected. An independent, coeducational, liberal arts college, Rockford College is honored to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s leading advocate for the liberal arts and sciences at the undergraduate level.

Physical Location: Located in the Rock River Valley, Rockford College is less than 90 minutes from Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison, WI., and is easily accessible by major forms of transportation. The campus includes more than 130 beautiful park-like acres of land and is centered in the geographic heart of Rockford, Illinois, the largest city in Illinois outside the Chicago metropolitan area.

Affiliate Organizations: Rockford College is the home to several organizations, including the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, the Rockford-area Golden Apple Foundation , and Illinois Campus Compact.

Students: More than 900 undergraduates are presently enrolled at Rockford College. Approximately 60% of our students are female and approximately 20% are from states and countries other than Illinois. Students tell us they attend Rockford College because they are looking for a quality college with small classes. Most of our students tell us they want to be an authority in the field they chose to study and they want to positively influence social values. In other words, they want to make a difference.

Faculty and Professional Staff: Our student to faculty ratio is 10 to 1. More than 80 full time faculty and professional staff teach and serve at Rockford College. All have advanced degrees in their field and most have doctorates.
