Dr. Stephen Hicks is professor and chairman of the Department of Philosophy at Rockford College. He is also the director of the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship.
He is the author of two books. His Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault was published in 2004 by Scholargy Publishing. He is also the co-editor of Readings for Logical Analysis (W. W. Norton, 1998), now in its second edition. He has published widely in academic journals as well as The Wall Street Journal, The Baltimore Sun, and Reader's Digest.
His latest project—a DVD documentary entitled Nietzsche and the Nazis—was published in 2006 by Ockham’s Razor Publishing.
He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Guelph, in Canada, and his Ph.D. in philosophy from Indiana University. Most of his graduate work was in logic and philosophy of science.
He has been a visiting professor of business ethics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., a visiting fellow at the Social Philosophy & Policy Center in Bowling Green, Ohio, and senior fellow at The Objectivist Center in New York.
