By the time they graduate, our performing arts students typically have worked on more than 20 productions. Many go on to pursue careers in Chicago and New York, and attend leading graduate programs nationwide.
 
 
Alexis Martino ‘06, BFA in Musical Theatre Performance
Alexis MartinoAlexis has done quite a bit since graduating in the spring of 2006. In May, she earned her Professional Acting Certificate (Master's) at Act One Conservatory, a two-year professional acting program. She has most recently been seen in "The Steps," an improv show with Theatre Momentum at The Greenhouse Theatre, formerly Victory Gardens. Alexis was cast in a drama series pilot that began filming in Nov. 2009 and has two independent films lined up for 2010, along with a children's Christmas musical, and another improv show. Needless to say she is keeping herself busy, but loving it.

Sarah Palmer ‘05, BA in Scenic Design
Sarah PalmerSarah graduated from Rockford University in the spring of 2005 and is in her final year of the MFA Scenic Design program at Temple University. There, she won an award for excellence in scenic design for her design on The Ibsen Project, designed Cabaret, worked as props carpenter for the Pennsylvania Shakespeare festival and is currently sitting in tech for Sweet Charity, which she is currently designing. Sarah also worked as Technical Director for Apple Farm Arts and Music Center’s summer children's program.

Julie Abner ‘04, BFA in Musical Theatre Performance
Julie AbnerJulie has performed at Thunder Bay Theatre in Alpena, Mich., New American Theatre, in Rockford, Ill., Northeastern Repertory Company, Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre, and Bearcreek Resort Productions in Bryant, Ind.
 
Julie and her husband Kyle Donahue also worked at Renaissance Repertory Theatre in Dickson, Tenn., and then performed at the newly formed, Broadway Dinner Theatre in the Dells. They performed there from July 2006 through May of 2007.
 
Julie appeared in the following Rockford University Productions: She Loves Me, Rashomon, World Goes Round, Simpatico, Dames at Sea, Tin Types, Sugar, She Stoops to Conquer, The Fantasticks, The Taffetas and Phantom.

Darrin Pufal ‘04, BFA in Musical Theatre Performance
Darrin PufalDarrin holds an MFA in costume design and technology from The University of Florida and a BFA in musical theatre performance from Rockford University, Darrin currently teaches costume design at Reed College in Portland, Ore.
 
Darrin appeared in the following Rockford University Productions: Tin Types, Sugar, Travisties, She Stoops to Conquer, The Fantasticks, Bedroom Farce, Night of the Iguana and The Phantom.

Nathan Albert ‘03, BFA in Musical Theatre Performance
Nathan AlbertNathan was recently back performing on the RC stage during the Spring of 2008 in Grease as Teen Angel (pictured right). Tours: The Full Monty (Jerry Lukowski). Favorite regional credits: Camelot (Mordred), Funny Girl (Nick Arnstein), Godspell (Judas/John the Baptist), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Trevor Graydon), Beauty and the Beast (Gaston) The Full Monty (Ethan), and Twelfth Night (Feste). Nathan has also performed a one-man special-effects musical and, on two occasions, has sung the National Anthem for the Chicago Cubs (although a White Sox fan). He is also a Jim Henson puppeteer and an avid thumb wrestler! Currently, Nathan is working towards his Master’s of Divinity at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago.

Kyle Donahue ‘03, BFA in Musical Theatre Performance
Kyle DonahueKyle has performed in summer and Christmas shows at Bearcreek Farms Country Resort in Bryant, Ind. and at Theatre IV’s children’s theatre.
 
Kyle and his wife Julie Abner also worked at Renaissance Repertory Theatre in Dickson, Tenn. and then performed at the newwly formed, Broadway Dinner Theatre in the Dells. They performed there from July 2006 through May of 2007.

Ryan Moller ‘03, BA in Theatre/Costume Design
Ryan MollerNow in graduate school at North Carolina School for the Arts in costume design, Ryan has worked at the Santa Fe Opera and as a wardrobe supervisor for Julliard’s Acting Company.

Rick Berger ‘00, BA in Theatre/Tech
Rick BergerRick is the touring company production manager for The Acting Company in New York City. He has also worked with the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Mass., and the Milwaukee Children’s Theatre.
 
Rick appeared in the following Rockford University Productions: Noises Off, Uncle Vanya, Cabaret, Woman in the Case and Pericles.
 
 
 
David Rodriguez '99 BFA Musical Theatre
David RodriguezFor more than six years David Rodriguez has spent his days working as a Lead Game Designer with High Voltage Software. With clients like Microsoft, Disney, Cartoon Network and Ubisoft, HVS has become one of the most established and reliable names in game development. David has also created a web comic book series entitled, Shadowgirls with artist Dave Reynolds. It's sort of a Gilmore Girls meets H.P. Lovecraft story. Through Archaia Studios Press he also collaborated with artist, Patrick McEvoy to create the independent comic book mini-series Starkweather: Immortal. The new series came out in summer of `07.

He has been instrumental in working with Eagle One Video to direct an all new animated DVD comic book series based on the Voltron comics. The DVDs have the feel of a comic book, complete with balloon text, and feature the voices of several Rockford area talents.

Margret R. R. Echeverria '92, BFA in Theatre
Margret EcheverriaMargret received the Best Actress award at the 2001 Buenos Aires Film Festival for her work as Madeline in Jigsaw Venus, and earned an Honorable Mention for the same role at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival.

Since Jigsaw Venus (2000), Margret has completed three more independant films—Sara Goes to Lunch (2004), Four Eyed Monsters (2005) and the award winning Four Letter Word (2007) as Audrey.

Martin McClendon ‘91, BA in Theatre/Acting
Martin McClendonSince graduate school at the University of Illinois , Martin has performed off-Broadway, at Steppenwolf Theatre, in film, on network television, and in national commercials.

Martin is currently an Assistant Professor of Theater at Carthage College in Kenosha Wisconsin where he also serves as Scenic Designer/Technical Director.

Mike NanfriaMike has gone on to acting on film and has appeared in episodes of The LXD: The Legion of Extrodinary Dancers in 2010 (Boss), Hawthorn in 2009 (Security Guard), Leverage in 2009 (Pharmacist), Boston Legal in 2008 (Det. Frank Richards), Prison Break in 2006 (Older Cop) and an episode of Early Edition in 2000 (ER Doctor).
