Guidance Counselors and Admission Staff alike strive to provide the support necessary to ease the transition from high school to a university. Providing information on the vast amount of opportunities is part of the process. Below is a helpful resource to assist you as you serve and change the lives of students.

    • First-year students: 2.65 GPA, 19 ACT or equivalent SAT, top ½ graduating class
    • Transfer students (12 or more 100-level college courses): 2.3 GPA

    If academic records fall below standard, a student may be allowed to petition for admission

SCHOLARSHIPS

There are a variety of scholarships available at Rockford University! Below are a few of the opportunities available.

Presidential Scholarship
Presidential Scholarships are awarded each fall to new first-year and new transfer students who attend full-time. All recipients must live on campus and become active participants in campus life. The Presidential Scholarships are highly competitive and are limited to 10 recipients per year. Award amounts reach up to full tuition.

Criteria are as follows:

First-Year Students
  • 3.65 minimum GPA
  • 29 minimum ACT/SAT equivalent
Transfer Students
  • 3.65 minimum GPA
  • 30 completed college credits
  • Must submit ACT score
Qualified students will receive an application from the Office the Admission. The Presidential Scholarship is available to Domestic students. GPA is calculated on an unweighted 4 point scale.

Presidential Scholarship application materials must be received by January 31. Students must be admitted to Rockford University by January 24.

Trustee Scholarship
Trustee Scholarships are awarded each fall to new first-year and new transfer students who attend full-time. All recipients must live on campus and become active participants in campus life. The Trustee Scholarships are competitive and limited to 10 recipients per year. Award amounts reach up to $20,000.

Criteria are as follows:

First-Year Students
  • 3.50 minimum GPA
  • 27 minimum ACT/SAT equivalent
Transfer Students
  • 3.50 minimum GPA
  • 30 completed college credits
Qualified students will receive an application from the Office of Admission. The Trustee Scholarship is available to Domestic students. GPA is calculated on an unweighted 4 point scale.

Trustee Scholarship application materials must be received by January 31. Students must be admitted to Rockford University by January 24.

Dean's Scholarship

Dean's Scholarships are awarded each fall and spring to new first-year and new transfer students who attend full-time. Dean's Scholarships recognize a high level of academic achievement and co-curricular activity involvement. Limited to 25 recipients per year. Award amounts reach up to $15,000.

Criteria are as follows:

First-Year Students
  • 3.35 minimum GPA
  • 25 minimum ACT/SAT equivalent

Transfer Students
  • 3.35 minimum GPA
  • 12 completed college credits

Qualified students will receive an application from the Office of Admission. The Dean's Scholarship is available to Domestic students. GPA is calculated on an unweighted 4 point scale.

Dean's Scholarship application materials must be received by January 31. Students must be admitted to Rockford University by January 24.

Academic Excellence Scholarship
Given each fall and spring to new first-year and new transfer students who attend full-time. These scholarships recognize strong academic achievement. Award amounts reach up to $11,000.

Founders Award, Recognition Award and Regent Award

Given each fall and spring to new first-year and new transfer students who attend full-time. These awards are based on academic achievement.  Award amounts are up to $10,000.

The Academic Excellence Scholarship and Founds, Recognition and Regent Awards do not require a separate application. There is no deadline.

Clubs and Organizations
Rockford University offers over 25 clubs and organizations to fit just about any interest. Students can also start their own clubs. Movies, concerts, athletics, intramurals and more are offered year-round, along with traditional events such as Homecoming and April Weekend. The Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement provides outlets for service-oriented experiences, and students can become service fellows and earn scholarships while making a difference.

Athletics
Rockford University is an NCAA Division III competitor and participates in the NACC conference.

Men’s sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country and Track, Football, Golf, Soccer
Women’s sports: Basketball, Cross Country and Track, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball

Visit us!
We openly invite and encourage students and families to set up a visit to learn more about Rockford University. We also offer appointments with an admission counselor and tours Monday-Saturday – give us a call at 815.226.4050 to schedule a visit!

In addition, Rockford University is pleased to visit your high school and provide financial aid presentations or classroom visits (either an admission counselor or Rockford University faculty member).
